More about Kris

Kris never planned to be a winemaker. As a proud Oregonian born and raised in Portland, Kris entered Oregon State University to become a pharmacist. After a few semesters and a newfound passion for home-brewing beer, Kris switched his major to fermentation science which allowed him to continue with the chemistry and biology classes he enjoyed the most. Naturally, his love for applied science led him to California where he combined his book smarts with the artistry of winemaking in roles at various Central Coast wineries.

In 2014, Kris joined Kendall-Jackson as Winemaker at our Monterey County winery where he oversees all of our Central Coast winemaking, with a focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. For over 10 years, Kris has developed a passion for the region's cool climate vineyards and the defining characteristics of our estate vineyards. Kris is also a champion of sustainability and our SIP and CCSW certifications working alongside our team's efforts in water conservation, energy efficiency, and land restoration across the Central Coast and at our Monterey County winery.

When not at the winery, you can find Kris being super Dad cheering on his twin daughters on the sidelines of the soccer field or driving them to dance class. And yes, Kris still loves beer, too.
