Happy #FarmerFriday! Last week, you met Tucker Taylor, our culinary gardener at the Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens. We interviewed Tucker so you could learn a little more about the man who will be rejuvenating the gardens, producing high quality, diverse produce for our Wine Estate as well as Partake by K-J.

Tucker’s vision is starting to unfold…

What is your vision for the K-J gardens moving forward?
I am in the process of redesigning the culinary gardens to be more productive for our farm to table programs so we can showcase more of our estate grown produce. We opened up the center garden to more sunlight and have created a pathway for events and dinners in the garden. We will also revitalize the international gardens that features produce from around the world.

What is your vision for the future of the farm to table program at JFW?
I would like to increase the productivity and diversity of the culinary gardens and provide a wider variety of fruits and vegetables for the Wine Estate and Partake by K-J. I’m also excited about creating a user friendly garden that our guests and employees can enjoy. I envision this as a place of education for gardening and produce for the community.

What is your personal definition of sustainability?
Sustainability to me is a complete ecosystem in which sustaining soil fertility in-house is of the utmost importance. I think of myself first and foremost as a soil farmer, which is an important distinction.
