Mendocino County
LOCATED DIRECTLY NORTH OF SONOMA COUNTY AND ABOUT 90 MILES FROM SAN FRANCISCO, MENDOCINO COUNTY IS BOUNDED BY THE COAST MOUNTAIN RANGE, THE PACIFIC OCEAN, AND THE GREAT NORTHERN REDWOOD FORESTS.

Mendocino County is an ocean-cooled winegrowing region with the largest total organic wine grape acreage in the United States. It is distinctly more rural and less populated despite being home to 11 diverse sub-appellations– including the North Coast, Pine-Mountain Cloverdale Peak, Yorkville Highlands, and the most well-known, the Anderson Valley AVA.

Anderson Valley is the coolest wine-growing region in California and now ranks among the top Pinot Noir regions in North America. Only fifteen miles long and roughly a mile across, the Anderson Valley cuts laterally through the Coast Range rather than lying between ridges. The west end of the valley is only a few miles from the Pacific Ocean while the east end is 20 miles away, this alignment results in a wide temperature range making it one of our favorite AVAs in Mendocino County– and home to three of our estate vineyards: the Edmeades Vineyard, Skycrest Vineyard (Sable Mountain), and the Maggy Hawk Vineyard.

Mendocino County is known for its diverse terroir and commitment to preserving the land and surrounding communities. A drive through Mendicino County will take you on an adventure of small towns and meandering country roads dotted with approachable, intimate, uncrowded, and owner-operated farmers, winemakers, and artists.
