DIY Mother's Day Gift Basket
Mother’s Day is this Sunday! Bouquets and gift baskets are classic last-minute gifts, but they can also look a bit impersonal. On the other hand, a DIY Mother’s Day gift basket that’s tailored it to your mom’s tastes will feel really special and thoughtful. Think about what she loves and what would make her feel pampered, then assemble all those items together in a pretty wire basket that she can reuse afterward. You could do a movie-themed basket with a movie she’s been wanting to see, a bag of popcorn, and her favorite candy, or a picnic-themed basket with a pretty blanket, her favorite wine, and an assortment of yummy foods. I chose to do a spa-themed basket with a bottle of bubble bath, a cozy robe, and some relaxing bath necessities: a magazine, a candle, and a bottle of Chardonnay.
The specific items will vary based on your mom’s tastes, but here are some basics to start with:
- A pretty basket
- Something yummy to eat and drink (I went with chocolate and Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve Chardonnay)
- Her favorite reading material
- A gift that will last a bit longer, like a plush robe or a candle in her favorite scent
- Flowers
- A personal note of gratitude
Start by choosing a medium-sized wire basket. Then place the larger items in first (the robe, magazines, etc.). Next, lay the smaller items on top. Finish it off by tying your note and a pretty flower to the front of the basket. The nice thing about this is, you don’t even have to bother with gift wrapping! Just leave the basket somewhere that she’ll come across it on Mother’s Day.
Hope you like this idea for a last-minute gift that still feels very personal! Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there. Get the best wine gifts from Kendall-Jackson! We offer a curated selection for every wine lover.
